Old brackets inside the cowl had to go.
Corner filler piece made for dash scraps.
Filler panels were made to fit.
Some corner trim pieces will be made.
Front corner welded.
Both cab corners got the filler then fully welded.
The owner wanted to old door opening recess left.
The under floor brace had to be shortened also.
A little bed progress temporary corner supports.
Removed both retainers.
The end was ground straight and clean.
After a little more welding then ground clean the latches wer installed now it has a real clean tailgate latch.
The smooth look is taking shape.
Both doors bottoms did not line up with the lower cowl and cab corner so filler to be added.
The filler strip was fully welded both sides then ground clean and now bottoms are in line.

The owner had a 50 Pu dash he wanted customized and installed so here is the base I started with.
Retention stanchions had to be made for the new gages and welded in place.
I had to roll the lower gauge panel to match.
Test fit looking pretty clean.
Both front bed upper tubs were capped and the front seams fully welded then ground clean for the smooth look.
Weld ground Its starting to clean up nicely.
This is a continuation of the 48 F1 Restomod build part 2. I have gone into lots of the little detail work that goes into a high quality Restomod build in my shop.
Now we have a custom one off modified 50 dash in this 48 Pu, clean and smooth.
The back was de cluttered and the glove box door also smooth look coming.
Factory tailgate retainers are BUTT ugly they got to go so the owner handed me a pair of these.
The temporary supports were made to keep it square while welding.

The back side of the reworked dash and the underside of the cowl were painted with Zero Rust.
With bar temporarily inserted I can repair the damage and weld the old holes.

Old tail gates always have dents dings and bows. So I machined up a insert to help repair the damage upper round with the factory flat section.
Changes to the hood Blank the front openings off.
Tac welding the gauge panel in.

All the welds were ground down clean. Now the sides are real solid after welding.
Welded up then ground clean also the inside was ground clean.
Starting to look like a custom dash.

Upper bed rails were capped for a clean look and ground clean plus the tail get edge extended to finish the clean look.
Time to weld in the dash it fits great.
Bottom tailgate corners welded.
I skip around welding to keep the heat down and no warpage..
The 4 stake pockets were also capped for the smooth look.
Inside lip was cleaned up.
Now the tail gate will latch closed and have a clean look a couple more touch up things to finish up.
Weld in the end retention cap.

All the unnecessary brackets and holes front and back were filled.
Dash welded to cowl sides underneath.
The owner had a laser cut flat panel for the new gages then I had to adjust the spacer rings for the gauges.
Started tack welding in the old glove box door.
Both bed side ends needed some weld filler, when the tail gate was on there was a gap.
Both doors were hitting on the inner floor rocker so I sliced it and moved the section in then welded it an ground clean.
For the new latch I had to make a end cap and make the adjuster slot.
All the old garbage on the back has to go.
